• The 1st Meeting of Research Committee of Decentralization in Asian Countries

　The 1st Meeting of Research Committee of Decentralization in Asian Countries was held on September 8-9, 2011.
　This meeting took up themes of the "Decentralization Process in 1990-2010". On the 1st day, following the opening speech by Prof. Kiyotaka Yokomichi (Professor, GRIPS) who is the chairperson of the Committee, Dr. Orathai Kokpol (Assistant Professor & Director, College of Local Government Development, King Prajadhipok's Institute (Thailand)) and Dr. Eko Prasojo (Professor for Public Administration and Local Government, Faculty of Social & Political Sciences, University of Indonesia) reported on the decentralization process of each country. On the 2nd day, Dr. Alex B. Brillantes (Professor, National College of Public Administration and Governance, University of the Philippines) and Ms. Miyako Kusakabe (Deputy Director, Local Administration Management Assistance Office, Local Administration Bureau, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications) made reports. During the question and answer session after each presentation, all the participants exchanged opinions from the comparative point of view.
