Activities

Project to Introduce Local Governance in English:
  In collaboration with the Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR), COSLOG carries out, for the benefit of overseas countries, the compilation of documents in foreign languages on the basis of research surveys concerned with such matters as the actual situation of local governance and its operation in Japan. Research / Surveys (Symposia):
  In addition to hosting international seminars at which overseas researchers and practitioners concerned with local governance can discuss and debate issues concerned with the present state of decentralization as well as seminars concerned with local governance, COSLOG also implements programs such as inviting overseas researchers to the Institute and arranging occasions for the exchange of opinions on local governance with overseas countries, and visits institutes overseas. In ways such as these, COSLOG conducts research and exchanges information concerned with local governance.

Training Activities:
With the aim of enabling persons from overseas such as provincial or regional governors or officials of central government ministries and agencies to deepen their understanding of local governance in Japan, COSLOG arranges training programs, which also strengthen links among persons concerned with local governance from various countries.

COSLOG Library:
  COSLOG library houses indexed documentation (in Western languages and Japanese) concerned with local governance overseas and in addition to making efforts to assemble such documentation, also offers a loan service of library materials.
