Chair Claudel is a commemorating project supported by the Embassy of France, and organized by the Cultural Policy Program of GRIPS. Established in December 2005, we have already organized this academic and intellectual exchange twice.

・・ ABSTRACT
The purpose of the graduate program in cultural policy is to train students to become professionals and specialists in the field of cultural policy. Our graduates are expected to play a leading role in cultural policy research and/or the design and implementation of future cultural policy, cultural administration, and cultural diplomacy in Japan. The graduate program is targeted towards Japanese junior and mid-career government officials as well as others with a serious interest in cultural policy issues. The faculty of the cultural policy program conducts leading-edge research, applying quantitative analytical techniques to data from field studies in order to provide a sound basis for government decisions regarding cultural policy.

・・ Masahiro KONNO (Vice President of GRIPS, Professor)
Graduating from the Faculty of Literature, University of Tokyo in 1976, he worked for the Ministry of Education, Science, Sports and Culture. Associate professor at Saitama University from 1992, and joined GRIPS as a professor from 1998. Specialized in Educational Policy, Life Long Learning, Cultural Policy.
current research interests:
Life-long Learning Policy and Cultural Policy. He is currently conducting research on Educational Reform through the concept of Life-long Learning.

Ph.D. in Economics, Paris 1970. ("Value in Public Economics"). Professor at University Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne from 1987. Specialized in Economic Policy, Economic of Arts, Local development.

Master and Ph.D. (Economics) from Graduate School of Economics and Management, Tohoku University). Specialized in Environmental Economics. Research Associate at GRIPS from 2005.

Studied in School of Architecture of Barcelona (ETSAB) from 2003-2006 and trained as a town planner. Diploma de Estudios Avanzados from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. Ph.D. in Engineering (Univ. of Tokyo). Specialized in urban planning and urban design. Research Associate at GRIPS from 2006.
