Title: Examining Historical Path of Modern States and Armed Conflicts in Africa

Abstract: This seminar examines how modern states had been formed and transformed in Sub-Saharan Africa (hereafter, “Africa”). The 1990s is an era of armed conflicts for Africa. I examine the historical path that African states had taken from the pre-colonial era to the 1990s. By analyzing the historical process, I point out that recent political incidents might be a result of long historical processes.
