Mikitaka Masuyama is Professor of Political Science at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) and serves as Executive Vice President, Dean, Chair of Master’s Programs Committee, Director of Public Policy Program and Deputy Director of Young Leaders Program. He also serves as a visiting professor on the faculty of law at Keio University. He holds a Ph.D in political science from the University of Michigan.

His current research focuses on representative democracy, with a particular interest in the workings of the separation of legislative powers, the development of parliamentary procedures and practices, and the institutionalization of party organizations.
